My name is Michelle and I am an old schoolmate of Angie
Treadway's. I'm from Candler, but now live in Georgia. Since I'm not local, I'm
limited in what I can do for Angie, so I started this website to help promote
her cause.
Unfortunately, Angie and I know how one's life can change in
an instant and what life is like for a caregiver. (My own mother fell down her
basement stairs in Candler in 2006 and is now a quadriplegic.) A caregiver's
life is about the hardest life you can have, especially if the person you care
for is unable to do anything for themselves. It's extremely hard moving around
"dead weight." Getting a person out of bed and changed is a huge
struggle. There's also no such thing as a good night's sleep. This is why Angie
relied so heavily on the physical strength of her youngest son Joseph—not to
mention his companionship and loving support.
Throughout my parent's life, they were always there for
anyone in hard times and their supportive community came to their rescue in the
same way. This is why it is every community's duty to take care of the
downtrodden and desperate. Christians are called to help no matter how a person
got into their circumstance. We are all called to be Good Samaritans. One day in
the blink of an eye we could be in a similar situation. I'm grateful Angie has a loving and supportive community and
I hope Canton keeps up the good work!
In closing, I want to emphasize that those who need help are often unable to
understand their own needs, much less communicate them. Please see my list of simple ways you can help.
Thank you!
